“Sometimes you stumble upon a restaurant that exceeds all your expectations, and this is one of those. The food was amazing, cooked to perfection and plated up and presented extremely well. Staff were great and amongst all of this, the prices by today standards were extremely reasonable. It's not often I eat out and get the bill and pay it feeling like I got really good value for money. Well worth a visit and I'd recommend it on a special occasion or if you just fancy your treating yourself. It's a great restaurant.”
“We enjoyed an excellent meal today. The lab was so tender and flavorful. The Sunday roast was amazing again very tender. There is not a single thing I would’ve done or suggested that be different. Brilliant meal, service and atmosphere.”
“Food that tastes so good, it makes you smile. Great restaurant, of the same vein as Great Britain and Alfred the Great. Monumentally Great. The service was impeccable, friendly and comfortable without being overbearing or intrusive, and all staff smiling, positive, clearly enjoying their work and proud of it too. Very fast on food coming out, and very quick to clear the table. But no element of rushing. The building itself is an atmospheric redeveloped bank vault, with tealights on the tables and soft orange lighting that illuminates the old brick arches. I ate the potted pig to start (by far the best potted pig I've tried in Wales, and I try some from a different place, when possible, every time I visit the country), which was served warm with house pickles, each uniquely flavoured and still crisp, a slice of real bread, and a sizeable chunk of butter. For my main, I had the glamorgan sausage, because I'd never had one before and I'm trying to try ALL of the Welsh cuisine as I visit fairly often due to work. They appeared to have been freshly made, and we're absolutely delicious, served with atop some creamy peas and beans, and garnished with my favourite of all the leaves, peashoots. Portion size may appear small at first glance, but this is fresh, high quality, locally grown produce and it is filling. My two courses more than set me up for the rest of my day. A genuinely enjoyable experience in my mouth, and in my mind. Overall, absolutely recommend it, I think it's my new favourite restaurant in Cardiff! And it'll take a lot to beat them, true story. I'll be back with the other half to see if he agrees ”
“Style over substance. Looks nicer than it tastes. The lamb was definitely not worth £33.. starters and sides were marginally better than the mains. You’re better off spending the same at Parallel, which is right opposite.”
“This is a fantastic restaurant, great food, and amazing service. I don't recommend it, I just INSIST you come here! If you are not impressed by the sumptuous gourmet dishes from a really professional chef then I don't know what you should do in Cardiff. I ordered the breast of duck exquisitely topped with pear, which tasted amazing. I was pleasantly surprised that at the end when I paid they took the duck off the bill as I had waited a long time according to them, but it didn't really seem that way to me, even when I insisted on paying I was refused. The staff - masters of their craft, the waitress was very pleasant this evening, did a great job with everything. Left a good impression. Would highly recommend this place if you are in Cardiff”
